A Creative Experience Unlike Any Other

Not your traditional "paint-your-own" pottery experience, you’ll use a Japanese technique called "Nerikomi", layer and marble colored clay to build patterns directly into the structure of your piece. It’s a tactile escape to unplug, play, and craft one-of-a-kind functional art.

What's your service area?

Ellie Studio is a mobile ceramics studio serving the San Francisco Bay Area. We bring the entire pottery experience to your home, office, or event space!

  • Mobile Service: We primarily serve South Bay, Peninsula and North Bay.
  • Visit Our Studio: You can also host your intimate workshop at our private studio in Sunnyvale.

Age, Experience, Group Size?

No experience is required! Our workshop is beginner-friendly for ages 6 to adult. We can host groups of up to 12 guests at a time to ensure everyone receives personal, hands-on guidance.

What do I need to prepare?

If we come to you, you only need to provide the space (a shaded area is preferred). We’ll bring everything else, including desks, chairs, materials, and tools!

If you’re coming to our Sunnyvale studio, you only need to show up, we’ve got everything covered.

When & How to book?

Contact us below with your group size, ages, event type, date, and location. We’ll be in touch shortly to help tailor your experience and confirm your booking.

We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance to guarantee your spot. If your final headcount isn't ready yet, you can book a 4-guest package first to reserve your date and add more people later.

Is it messy?

Not much at all! We provide all materials and step-by-step guidance to keep everything neat and manageable. Clay is easy to clean and non-staining. You should simply wear clothes they don’t mind getting a little dusty.

When will my pieces be ready?

After the workshop, we’ll carefully dry, fire, and glaze your pieces in the kiln. Because ceramics is a slow and delicate process, your finished creations will be ready in 4–8 weeks. We will contact you via email or text as soon as they are ready for pickup!

Is the pottery food-safe?

Yes! All finished pieces are glazed and fired using food-safe materials. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe.

Please note that because of the high temperatures required for firing, small cracks can occasionally develop (which is beyond our control). If this happens, the piece can still be enjoyed for decorative purposes. We handle every piece with the utmost care to minimize any issues and ensure your creation comes out beautifully!

Do you host public workshops?

We host public studio workshops occasionally, perfect for 1-2 guests to join, try out the craft, and relax over the weekend.

Cancellation policy

We understand plans change. You can cancel up to four weeks prior to your scheduled workshop to receive a full refund of your deposit.
